Choose to be kind
Choose to be kind - understand, empathize, sympathize...
It takes work that requires your intention and thought. It's easy to let your id take over - to speak without thinking of how your words will affect someone else. It's much harder to think of someone else's perspective and feelings.
So let's all try to be better to each other.
Self Care
Self care has quickly moved from a way to get off the hamster-wheel of busyness to a very hot commodity - including green beauty and clean eating. There are many articles on what self-care should look like and feel like, but is this just additional pressure to be perfect and achieve more? Rebecca at Kings Road Apothecary speaks to the difference between what looks like self-care in the media and what actual real-life self care is. What do you think? http://thornandwonder.com/blog/2017/7/soft-soft

Ingredient Spotlight: Calendula
There's so much to love about Calendula! Calendula is a bright cheery plant loved for the medicinal properties of its vibrant orange or yellow flowers. The calendula flower is a skincare powerhouse. It has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. It is gentle enough for all skin types but especially for damaged or irritated skin. The oil made from the petals is also a favorite in infant and child skin care products. You can make your own calendula-infused oil by grinding the dried flowers and steeping them in a carrier oil of your choice.
BTW Calendula is also called marigold but this is NOT the same as the ornamental marigolds of the Tagets genus that you buy at the garden store. If you want to grow this great medicinal plant, make sure the genus is Calendula.
Love After Love
This is a favorite poem and a beautiful reminder to welcome and love ourselves the way we would greet a beloved love or dear friend. Nourish your own heart and soul.
Be a Fruit Loop in a World Full of Cheerios
From the first time I saw the Island of Misfit Toys I felt like that’s where I belong. https://youtu.be/JIO0a-4hCvA for a little throwback. Can you relate? So grateful for #dearhandmadelife for creating #craftcation a creative entrepreneurs conference where fruit loops like me can connect, learn and grow. BTW you should totally check it out!
Reflections on Love: The Soul Survivor
This is different than our usual posts. But I (Ann here) feel it's important. As a culture, we tend to avoid talking about death, yet it is a reality that no one can escape. This piece was written by my friend Leslie Kazadi after the death of our friend Diana. May it speak to your heart. This is what love looks like...
